In the last post I commented on how Declan will do things to make us laugh. Last night, as he was eating dinner he started tooting (no biggie, babies do it all the time and you hardly notice). After about 2 big ones ( I know, probably TMI!) he pushed a little on the 3rd and made a funny face and I let out a little chuckle. Well, that was enough to set him off. He started wiggling around and making funny faces as he forced them out. I was laughing pretty hard by this point and so was he! I know you all probably don’t care, but it was so funny I had to share it. I wish I could have gotten it on video so that you could have seen the mischevious smile on his face as he tried his best to make me laugh. He is such a boy!!
I just realized it has been quite a while since I have written a post. I am sorry about that! Now that Declan is moving, I feel I hardly have time to sit down for a moment!
Things here are going well. Zach has been busy with school and work and just trying to keep up with everything. He is doing a wonderful job of balancing everything (although he doesn’t feel like it). He is almost finished with his first semester (yah) but still has a long way to go (wahh).
Cora is just over 3 years old and is so much fun right now! She has her days like most all of us, but overall she is an incredible little girl. She is so inquisitive and really does just soak everything in like a sponge. She can say her whole alphabet, recognizes all her letters, knows what they all sound like and can recognize a few words. All day long she will say, “Mama, what does tree start with?” So we talk about the sounds, and before I know it, she has spelled Tree! It is quite amazing! She can count up to 12, then completely unintentionally, counts “14, 16, 20″. Cora and I have been working on verse memorization and she is doing an incredible job. She just picks it up and says it right back to me! She right now has about 4 verses memorized the longest being John 3:16 (she probably could have more but I haven’t been as good about it as I should be-shame on me!) Cora loves to dress up like a “princess” and in any dress she can, yet she loves to go outside and play in the dirt and watch bugs. Whenever we have our music on she is dancing all over the place. She is really funny! When she woke up this morning the first thing she said was, “when I woke up I couldn’t find Ezra (her favorite baby doll) and so I prayed to God and he helped me find him!” Talk about tugging on the heart strings! What a sweetie!
Declan, while not crawling up on his hands and knees, is all over the place with his army crawl. He can get going really fast when he is determined about something! He is pulling up on everything and cruising across the room with ease. He can easily push up onto his hands and knees but has only scooted a few paces, then plops down onto his tummy and goes where he wants. He is mostly sleeping through the night! It has been a bit more of a challenge with him sleeping consistently than it ever was with Cora. But, thankfully most times when he wakes up I can go in give a quick hug and lay him back down and he goes back to sleep (I think he gets stuck while standing up). He has 4 teeth and loves to use them! He also has a bit of a silly streak in him and will do something over and over if it makes you laugh. He also loves dancing to music.
I am doing pretty good. Just trying to keep up with the kids and the house. I have been very involved with MOPS this year and loving it! I have been trying to find something to keep me busy in the evenings while Zach works and have been working more on scrapbooking and making my own cards. I am not real good at it, I don’t have the “eye” for it, but have had fun trying it out. We will see if I continue to make them!
Well, there is a quick update! I hope to be a little more consistant with the posts!
Somehow we managed to get away for 3 years with never having to put a band-aid on Cora (except the ones she got as an infant after getting a shot at the Dr.’s). Cora was running down the sidewalk to the car and her foot hit the side and she biffed it and scratched her elbow pretty good. After carefully cleaning it (she did real good at this point) I pulled out a band-aid (thinking she would think it is cool) she freaked out and really didn’t want one. But since it was bleeding I told her she really needed one, we managed to get one on and went out to finish our errands (which happened to be a trip to walmart). We found some cool Curious George band-aids, but she was still afraid of it! We finally got one on and she started showing it off to everyone!
I still have no idea how we managed to make it 3 years without a band-aid for Cora, but know we won’t with Declan! He got his first band-aid (again not the Dr ones) the same day!!!!! He was picking on the cat and she picked back and scratched his hand between his thumb and pointer pretty good. So we put a band-aid on for awhile, but he pulled it off and tried to eat it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of his band-aid.
Okay, so I finally have pictures of our new place! As you an see Cora’s room still needs a little more trim put up, but for the most part we are done! We love the new colors and are really enjoying the house so far. Some of the colors freaked us out at first, but once the trim was up and we got all of our stuff in we really liked all the colors!
